Associate Director, Risk and Control Governance
**What is the opportunity?**
Risk and Control Governance is a global team with a presence in London, New York and Toronto. The team comprises of a Global Head, Risk and Control Governance (Director), who has overall global responsibility for BCS Risk and Control oversight. The Global Head is supported by four regional managers (3 x Director level and 1 x Associate Director) covering the US, Canada and UK/APAC. The team is responsible for ensuring that operational risk/control data is effectively monitored and reported across BCS functions to ensure appropriate oversight against risks and alignment with wider CM initiatives and enterprise policies.
The position purpose is to assess and monitor that controls across BCS EMEA & APAC are robust and fit for purpose, central control metrics are captured accurately and reported on time, management information is accurate, new and ad hoc queries are dealt with promptly and effectively.
The incumbent will assist the Head, BCS EMEA & APAC and Head, BCS Risk & Control with control oversight, reporting updates, UK SMF (Senior Management Function) task support, thought leadership and independent assurance regarding the management of BCS operational risk in EMEA and APAC regions.
The incumbent will work with BCS functional teams to ensure that consistent processes, procedures and controls are implemented to effectively mitigate key operational risks and coordinate the assessment, development, implementation and continuous enhancement of operational risk practices to ensure these are adequate and in line with internal operational risks frameworks and policies.
The incumbent will interface with other BCS Pillars, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit and Enterprise/CM ORC&G teams on issues concerning Risk & Controls, including Operational Risk Events (OREs)
The incumbent will adhere to and promote all applicable Conduct Rules by:

**What will you do?**
- Pro-actively monitor, review the BCS control framework (processes, risks, controls, governance, reporting, metrics etc.) to ensure that operational risks are identified, measured, monitored, reported and escalated in accordance with established standing orders, policies, guidelines and regulations.
- Work in global alignment with BCS RC&G counterparts/teams in other regions to deliver the BCS RCAP program by maintaining and optimizing BCS Control Inventories; facilitating quarterly control self-assessment cycles; executing independent control evaluations to ensure design and operating effectiveness of controls; performing incident management while ensuring data quality and linkages to risk/controls; maintaining, standardizing and optimizing risk focused governance and MI reporting.
- Work with the Regional Leadership, Functional BCS heads and other oversight groups (CM ORC&G, Compliance, Audit etc.) to analyze root causes of audit points, operational risks actions and events (OREs), regulatory findings and KRI trends with the view to recommend mitigation strategies or where management attention is required to enhance the control infrastructure. Maintain balance as both trusted advisor and effective challenger to BCS functional teams in the discipline of risk management and mitigation, where relevant.
- Establish goals, drive and reward high performance, support career development and provide constructive continuous performance feedback during the course of the year to direct reports.
- Support UK SMF (Senior Management Function) tasks, as required.
- Facilitate/Execute preparation of reporting and documentation to risk/control forums, governing bodies or internal/external committees, as required.
