**School of Engineering and Technology **at **Sunway University **is looking to recruit enthusiastic and energetic lecturer (full-time and part-time) in the field of **Data Science, Computer Network Security and Software Engineering **to support the department in delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

Lecturers are expected to contribute to the teaching, research and to support the general administration, operation and management of the Department, School and University. Academic staff members are also expected engage actively in activities to develop and enhance their teaching, research and/ or professional expertise relevant to their profession or discipline area.

**Research**:

- Conduct research in disciplines mentioned above;
- Secure funding to support their research;
- Supervise student research projects, including Doctoral and/or Masters students;
- Participate in collaborative research projects with colleagues both within and external to the University;
- Engage proactively with the wider research community in their fields of study, promoting their own research and the academic reputation of the University.

**Teaching**:

- Design, plan and deliver lectures, tutorials and other teaching and learning activities, including by electronic/online means;
- Assess student work and progress, providing constructive and timely feedback;
- Regularly review the effectiveness of their teaching, and proactively seek ways to improve the quality and effectiveness of their teaching;
- Contribute to the design, development, delivery, review and enhancement of programmes of study within their Department/School;
- Invigilate examinations and assessments, moderate assessments papers, including second marking, and attend and contribute to Subject and Programme Boards.

**Service**:

- Participate constructively in Department, School and/or University committees;
- Participate in internal and external events, such as open days, outreach activities, and visits to partner institutions and internship placements;
- Support and assist senior colleagues in ensuring the smooth running of the department and programmes;
- Provide academic counselling to students, referring them to other support services as required.

**Requirements**:

- Possess a PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Cybersecurity or its related field.
- Leadership, coordination and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
- Experience in blended learning and flipped classroom.
- Prior experience in teaching data science or related courses is preferred.
- Proficient in programming languages like Python, R, SAS, SQL and knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools like Tableau and PowerBI.
- Expertise related to topics such as:

- Data Mining, Machine Learning, Big Data, Analytics Software and Systems, Cloud Analytics solutions such as Hadoop, Visualization, Statistics or related areas. Experience with SAS, R, Tableau.
- Cybersecurity, Ethical Hacking CEH certificate preferably, Forensic Investigation, Encryption, Computer Security, Network Security, Security Operations Centre. Active certification such as CEH, CHFI or equivalent.
- Computer Science, UIUX, Object Oriented Programming, Computer Mathematics, Java, Python, Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management and Software Engineering.
