Job Responsibilities
1. Supervising daily operation of the Imaging department e.g. workflow, staff roster, case scheduling etc.
2. Oversee the quality control and maintenance of all equipment.
3. Responsible for providing an efficient imaging service.
4. Maintenance of high standards of patient care and professionalism.
5. Awareness of all aspects of running the imaging department in both the technical and non-technical areas.
6. Involve in the maintenance of the Radiographic Quality Assurance program set up within the imaging department.
7. Perform imaging examinations on patients in order to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
8. Positioning of the patient; handling of complex equipment; determining proper exposure factors, utilizing radiation protection devices and processing films.
9. Ensure all rooms in the imaging department are made for the following day’s work.
10. The provision, production and enactment of the department procedures as prepared by the immediate superior.
11. Report all equipment malfunctions to the Management for appropriate action.
12. Ensure all company and departmental rules and regulations, Policy & Procedures, all techniques and guidelines are followed.
13. Radiographer must handle all the medical imaging equipment and any involved medical device.
14. Perform a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality output eg : General radiography examination, CT Scan examination, MRI examination, Fluoroscopy examination, Mammography examination, Mobile X-ray examination, operating C-arm in OR and Angiography procedure in Catheter Lab.
15. Assist Consultant Radiologist in performing Ultrasound, interventional procedure and sterile procedure.
16. Assist Consultant Cardiologist in performing any procedure in catheter lab.
17. Assist Surgeon in performing any procedure using x-ray in Operation Room.
18. Prepare and administer Contrast Media by represent of Radiologist / Consultant / Medical Officer to patients.
19. Determine proper technical factors for the production of radiographs and processing film.
20. Report to superior any concerns regarding radiological hazards according to the safety guidelines and practice.
21. Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are recorded and reported to the superior.
22. Maintain and records all x-ray supplies, medical supplies, pharmaceutical supplies and general supplies and keep within the agreed stock level. Responsible to checking, ordering and monitoring Imaging stock level for GST, PHA and RA items.
23. Undertake the full range of duties associated with the routine x-ray examinations of patients.
24. Radiographer must explain the radiological procedure to their patients in order to alleviate their fear and anxiety. With this, accurate information can help patients to remain relaxed and calm.
25. Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination and post-examination stay in the department.
26. Providing support and reassurance to patients, taking into account their physical and psychological needs.
27. Radiographer must computer literate to manage Hospital Information system for all the electronic records pertinent to the Department of Radiology.
28. Patient’s information confidentiality and Radiographer also cannot exposed Imaging finding / report to patient or third party.
29. Radiographers are also assigned to attend and contribute to the staffs and other meetings to discuss and also in promoting ideas for on going improvements in the service.
30. Responsible for attend yearly CME and arrange staff for CME which recognize by MOH either internal or external as yearly requirement and also for knowledge update.
31. Understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations practice follow LPTA act, to protect yourself and others.
32. Monitor the radiation monitoring and protection of all staff
33. The provision of domestic and surgical supplies for the smooth running of the imaging department
34. Responsible to checking, ordering and monitoring Imaging stock level for GST, PHA and RA items.
35. To maintain of department in a clean and hygienic condition
36. Affording radiation protection to the patient as is consistent with the examination.
37. Oversees staff and patients safety.
38. Preparation of monthly and yearly statistical returns
39. The supervision of the work of staff, preparation of Staff duty roster & preparation of Staff Oncall roster
40. Responsible as PACS administrator who orchestrates a complex set of functions to achieve successful imaging informatics.
41. Responsible for managing montly dose monitoring device to collect and constribute to all personnel. Compile the data and dose report form Agensi Nuclear Malaysia.
