Process Chemist

Job Description:
To carry out all duties at all times in compliance with all Venator Corporate and Venator EHS, product stewardship, business conduct policies and guidelines.

To co-ordinates plant improvements activities, starts with verification experiments in the Technical Laboratory and pursue with the Plant trial, with objectives to determine the best optimised condition and operating parameters to produce good quality TiO2.

To Identify areas of potential process improvement with respect to the area of chemistry and formulate plans for realizing the benefits and understanding the impact of raw materials and change to process conditions on product quality and costs.

To provide special assistance and leadership on demand by Process Department on process technology understanding, as to ensure the plant operations run in accordance to Production Plans.

To develop, write and present a working paper or technical report to the management on any break through solution and findings on process investigation work.

To be a Business Partner within Group Technical Network team and other Venator’s Site Technical Engineer to collate the best practices and technology and implement it at Teluk Kalung site.

To lead and coach the daily activities of Process Development Chemical Technician for Laboratory development works.

To support Control Laboratory team in performing right analysis for the right samples, troubleshooting and identifying improvement method to ensure right testing method aligning with the right plant process conditions.

To lead and manage team for any EHS risk assessment using Hazard and operability studies methodology.

To evaluate, develop and review any changes to the technology and operating condition as a results of changes to the feedstock and other raw materials, to ensure continued safe operations and its fit for purpose.

To support and engage in all activities develop by the company to achieve Zero Harm, not only to human but also to environment by practicing good safety behaviors and engineering practices.
