**Translation Project Specialist (Chinese Language)**

**A Day in the Life**

Management of localization and translation programs and projects to support the needs of Medtronic internal partners within the Asia Pacific and Greater China regions. Handle language service projects in the context of Regulatory, Clinical, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Training & Education, Marketing, Sales and other business functions in compliance with regulatory and Medtronic standards, meeting customer needs and quality expectations across the two regions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Execute on assigned projects within designated Business units and/or areas of expertise
- Define and Clarify project or program scope
- Proactively align with clients on cost, timelines and quality expectations
- Create a project plan including activities, resources, timelines and costs and align with Program Managers on high-level information
- Manage the translation project from beginning to end in the Medtronic-owned project management system, assignment of internal and/or external linguistic resources (including approved suppliers), negotiations of cost and timelines on project level
- Act as account manager for selected programs, being the first point of contact for translation requestors and representing the CoE towards clients
- Lead all business communications with project stakeholders and partners for the scope of the project
- Acquire approval on project plan from the client, assessing feasibility of project of certain complexity and address issues to relevant stakeholders
- Timely escalate issues that cannot be addressed to relevant stakeholders
- Report to Program Manager or People Manager issues that may impact agreed upon cost, timelines and quality expectations
- Assess the adequacy of procedures to support the achievement of the program or project objectives and ensure compliance
- Initiative and escalate project related quality issues and appropriate follow up
- Take initiative on improvement opportunities with the business units or assigned areas of work (eg. specific Medtronic portfolio or regional function)

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

**Nice to Have**
- Prefer 4+ years of localization project management experience or strategic account management experience in a similar field
- Advanced computer skills (MS office, communication tools for video conferencing, etc.)
- MS Project and Excel advanced reporting skills
- Advanced spoken and written English language skills
- Native language: Native level Mandarin Chinese to operate as business language (written and spoken)
- Preferred additional Asian foreign language(s)
- Basic understanding of documentation control systems preferred
- Good understanding about Greater China regulatory landscape for medical device companies is highly valued
- Project management certification preferred
- Risk management skills
- Knowledge of content management systems preferred
- Process improvement skills/experience
- Proven ability to see the ‘big strategic picture’ and be able to connect dots and identify patterns
- Experience in cooperating with multicultural teams across timezones (including Europe and US)
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize
- Excellent people and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to successfully align on scope and expectations
- Ability to influence without authority
- Ability to prioritize and/or negotiate priorities in case of need
- Ability to work within a team both as team member or team leader depending on the role within the Project/Program
