Welder Fitter

The Robotic Welder is responsible for the set up and operation of computer-controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions on steel and aluminium products.

a) Adhere to all safety requirements and protocols.

b) Read, interpret and perform welding techniques to fabricate parts to be used in the manufacturing of product. This includes possessing basic mechanical knowledge and use of hand tools; following instructions, and welding products.

c) Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, and /or numerical control sequences.

d) Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of welds.

e) Stop machine to remove finished material or to change tooling, setup, or material placement, according to required machining sequences.

f) Set up future jobs while robot is operating.

g) Performs manual welding during robot weld cycle, if required.

h) Maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools, using hand tools.

i) Provide assistance in the design, build, installation, and start-up of weld cells/fixtures, size machine/tools, and all auxiliary equipment.

j) Measure dimensions of the finished product to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.

k) Employee is responsible for any re-work or corrections as necessary to ensure a product meets specifications (ensure welds are cosmetically appropriate, completing a weld line if the machine missed one, grinding the weld etc.).

l) Monitor machine operation and control panel display and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions.

m) Adjust machine feed and speed, adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if the machine malfunctions.

n) Must be willing to work extended hours or shifts as requested.
