**Position Overview**:
In view of our ambitious expansion plan, we are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Housemaster (HMM) to join our international boarding school community. Reporting to the Deputy Headteacher - Pastoral and the Assistant Headteacher - Boarding, the HMM will play a crucial role in managing the resources, organisation, and administration of the House. This position is integral to ensuring the safety, discipline, and overall well-being of all pupils, which are vital to our College's success.
The Housemistress (HMM) oversees the efficient management of resources, organisational structure, and administrative processes within the House, reporting to the Deputy Head of School and ultimately to the Headmaster. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety, discipline, and well-being of all students, contributing significantly to the overall success of the College.
- **Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide high-quality pastoral care to all students within the House.
- Identify individual circumstances, needs, strengths, and weaknesses of each pupil to foster their development.
- Monitor the academic strengths and weaknesses of pupils, ensuring their backgrounds are communicated with staff when necessary.
- Facilitate online learning, assisting tutors in its orchestration when required.
- Counsel pupils on emotional, academic, social, or behavioural issues, collaborating with the College Counsellor when appropriate.
- Fulfil the requirements of the College's Child Protection Policy and make referrals to outside agencies as needed.
- Liaise with the Assistant Head (Boarding) on relevant college rotas, Trip matters, and weekend duties.
- Report serious disciplinary issues, such as severe bullying or substance misuse, to the DHP and/or Head of School.
- Oversee students’ medical requirements in collaboration with Medical Centre staff.
- Encourage a healthy lifestyle and develop collective responsibility among pupils to support one another.
- Foster respect for personal belongings and the facilities of the House.
- Encourage participation in extracurricular activities, overseeing pupil engagement in these programs.
**Specific Duties**:
- Conduct attendance registration each morning and afternoon, ensuring proper records are updated in the College’s management information system (ISAMS).
- Provide support to pupils in planning for IGCSE, A-level options, and Higher Education choices in cooperation with KS3 & KS4 Coordinators and the Assistant Head (Sixth Form).
- Maintain open lines of communication with parents, informing them of their child’s progress and handling any complaints effectively.
- Keep detailed records of pupils’ progress, welfare, and conduct, ensuring staff are informed about admissions and student integration.
- Contribute to the appointment of AHMM, Resident Tutors, and other key positions as requested by the Head of School.
- Ensure all members of the House team are familiar with policies regarding child protection, bullying, and health and safety.
- Liaise with facilities staff regarding House maintenance and ensure prompt actions are taken for health and safety concerns.
- Oversee fire evacuation drills and attend all HMM meetings.
