**Responsibilities**:
Perform welding on various metal components using methods such as MIG, TIG, or Arc welding.
- Weld parts according to blueprints, technical drawings, or specifications to ensure the highest quality and precision.
- Ensure welded joints are strong, secure, and meet safety standards
**Mechanical Fitting**:
- Install, assemble, and maintain mechanical components such as pipes, valves, pumps, and other machinery.
- Align and fit parts to create mechanical systems or subassemblies, ensuring precise assembly according to technical drawings and instructions.
**Fabrication**:
- Cut, shape, and prepare metal components for welding and fitting.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and machines like grinders, drills, and presses to fabricate parts as required
**Inspection and Quality Control**:
- Inspect welded joints and mechanical assemblies to ensure compliance with standards and tolerances.
- Test welded parts and systems to verify strength, safety, and functionality.
**Maintenance and Repairs**:
- Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on welded structures and mechanical assemblies.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, then make repairs as needed, often requiring both fitting and welding skills.
**Health and Safety Compliance**:
- Follow all safety regulations when operating welding equipment and handling materials.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure a safe work environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to reduce safety hazards.
**Documentation and Reporting**:
- Keep accurate records of work completed, including materials used, hours worked, and the status of projects.
- Update technical drawings or provide feedback on designs to improve future projects.
**Team Collaboration**:
- Work alongside engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to complete projects.
- Communicate effectively to ensure the proper execution of tasks and troubleshooting of issues.
**Qualifications**:
**Educational Requirements**:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required.
- Vocational training or certification in welding and mechanical fitting is often required or preferred.
**Experience**:
- Previous experience as a welder and/or fitter, especially in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
**Skills**:
- Strong welding skills (MIG, TIG, Stick, etc.).
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Familiarity with various hand tools, power tools, and welding machines.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail in both welding and fitting tasks.
**Certifications**:
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS, ASME) is often required.
- Mechanical fitting certifications may be required for certain roles.
