**KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. Library Operations & Resource Management:
- Manage circulation services, including borrowing, returning, and shelving of materials.
- Assist in cataloguing and classifying library resources using standardized systems KOHA.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain updated records in the Library Management System (LMS).
- Ensure timely acquisition, labeling, and organization of physical and digital resources.
2. Oversee printing services within the library, including:
- Managing printing equipment and troubleshooting basic technical issues.
- Assisting students and staff with printing, scanning, and photocopying needs.
- Monitoring usage and supplies, and ensuring proper maintenance of machines.
- Enforcing policies related to printing quotas, security, and confidentiality.
3. Academic Support & Teaching:
- Deliver teaching sessions on information literacy, academic writing, research skills, referencing styles, and digital tools.
- Integrate library instruction into academic courses in collaboration with faculty members.
- Act as a substitute lecturer to conduct academic classes or support modules in case of lecturer shortages, particularly in areas related to research, academic writing, and information management.
- Prepare teaching materials, conduct assessments, and provide student support similar to an academic lecturer when required.
- Guide students and faculty in using library resources, referencing tools, and online databases.
- Support research activities by assisting with literature searches, citation management, and access to scholarly databases (e.g., Scopus, EBSCO, ScienceDirect).
- Organize library orientation and research skills workshops for students and academic staff.
- Deliver teaching sessions and workshops on information literacy, research skills, academic writing, citation, and referencing (APA etc.).
- Collaborate with academic departments to integrate library instruction into course syllabi and program learning outcomes.
- Assist students in navigating databases, evaluating sources, and conducting literature reviews.
- Prepare and deliver content similar to academic courses (e.g., embedded library modules or credit-bearing workshops).
4. Digital Library & E-Resources:
- Maintain and update the university’s digital library platform and ensure accessibility to online journals, ebooks, and academic repositories.
- Troubleshoot issues related to digital access and authentication (e.g., remote logins, database access).
- Support institutional repository initiatives and archiving of student theses and publications.
5. Administrative & Institutional Contribution:
- Prepare reports and documentation for internal reviews, audits, and compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., MQA, KPT, MySETARA & ISO).
- Ensure timely filing, cataloging, and accurate documentation of academic resources.
- Participate in university-wide events and academic ceremonies such as Convocation.
- Engage Academic and Industry Advisors to align library services with academic and industry trends.
- Contribute to quality assurance activities and support accreditation processes.
6. Training & Consultancy:
- Participate in the development and delivery of training sessions, workshops, and consultancy services related to library and information management.
- Collaborate with university departments or external partners to provide information literacy, research support, or digital skills training.
- Support institutional consultancy projects involving knowledge management, archiving, or library system implementation.
- Promote the library’s role in supporting lifelong learning and capacity building across the university community.
7. Training, Outreach & Engagement:
- Conduct information literacy and digital research skills sessions for students and staff.
- Promote library services, events, and reading culture through campaigns and social media.
- Collaborate with academic departments to deliver tailored library support for specific programs.
**COMPETENCY**
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an academic library setting is preferred.
- Proficient in library software systems (e.g., KOHA, Emerald, EBSCOhost) and database management.
- Familiar with referencing styles (APA Citation) and scholarly publishing standards.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy and Language
Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,000.00 per month
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
