**About the Position**

The Aquaculture Worker’s primary job is to carefully undertake the necessary husbandry to maintain the Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia (GIFT) fish under the supervision of the hatchery supervisor. S/he will be required to assist scientists, other researchers, and research assistants in field work of research projects and other research related activities (e.g. workshops and trainings) to other programs/units/partners.

1. Support in maintaining the current generations of GIFT, including all aspects of animal care including:

- Feeding the fish,
- Changing water and cleaning tanks,
- Monitoring fish health,
- Water quality monitoring and system maintenance.

2. Assist in production of new generation(s) of GIFT including production, incubation, nursing, tagging, and growing out of families.

3. Supporting other research experiments of WorldFish as required.

4. Providing similar technical support to other collaborating research with WorldFish local/international partners.

5. Assisting in:

- Training courses, field trips and other activities related to research, development and technology transfer.
- Supporting research activities in other locations as required.

**Requirements**:
This job might be for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:

- Secondary school graduates or higher.
- Strong sense of discipline, self-discipline and responsibility.
- Knowledge of aquaculture and fisheries.
- Practical experiences of aquaculture particularly tank or RAS systems.
- Practical experiences of fish handling, including fish identification, fish reproduction, hatchery technologies, fish harvesting, and data recording.
- Ability and willingness to work for long hours, especially during fish breeding period, stay overnight when required.
- Ability and willingness to work outside office hours (during weekends, holidays, etc.) if required.
- Follow strictly assigned working hours and rules.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

**Desirable Skills/Experience**
- Ability to work under mínimal supervision.
- Working outside office hours when required.

**Benefits**

This is a **Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position** and WorldFish offers a competitive remuneration package including comprehensive benefits (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, employer provident fund contribution, paid leave, and others. The duration of the contract will initially be for a three-year period with possibility for extension, depending on funding and performance.
