Aquaculture hatchery workers are active in the production of aquatic organisms in land-based hatchery processes. They assist in the process of raising organisms throughout the early stages of their life cycle and the release of organisms when necessary.
We have been in the fish farming or harvesting business for more than 43 years.
We buy small fishes at about the size of 1.5 to 3.5 inches to breed till about 700 grams and above to sell them to the restaurants and other eating outlets mainly Penang. Fish farming and harvesting will take approximately 9 to 12 months before the marketable size and some even take more than 2 years to sell based on the size demand. Basically the ratio of success rate of surviving is about 20 to -40% (example the stock of 10,000 small fishes about 2,000 to 4,000 will make it through and sometimes due to the sea water condition it maybe less).
The market structure is very seasonal basically on festive seasons, school holidays breaks and the auspicious months for weddings. But due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the MOC business was badly affected.
