**Direct Search Global is working an international offshore vessel owner to fill the role of Legal Manager to be based in their Malaysia office.**

**Responsibilities**:

- In order to maintain the company’s business, competitiveness, high-level planning, and strategic initiatives, as well as to plan and manage the provision of professional and effective in-house legal services and advice for corporate services and subsidiaries.
- Provide and assist in the management and provision of all related legal services, support, and advice (referred to as “Legal Support”) to the Corporate Services Units and company group, as well as recommend and manage initiatives and business solutions pertaining to the Legal Corporate & Governance portfolio.

**Legal Services & Advisory**
- Manage and supervise the legal services to enhance continuous quality, effectiveness, rigor, and improvements of the Legal Support; recommend and conduct the formulation and enforcement of innovative and pragmatic solutions in support of Corporate Services Units and company in order to attain the most favorable position for the company and achieve the company strategic initiatives.
- Manage and provide all Legal Support, supervise drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal documentation.

**Policies and Procedures - Compliance and Governance**
- Provide and manage all Legal Support in respect of Compliance, Governance and the company policies to facilitate compliance with applicable international and local laws, rules and regulations
- Formulate, develop and revise the company’s policies and procedures related to relevant corporate matters and operational activities, and conduct adherence to protect the company’s interests and coordinate in respect of policies, frameworks, guidelines within the company.
- Develop the company digital depository system of legal contracts and documents including safe keeping, archiving and updating of said contracts, legal documents and baselines.

**Business Partner of the subsidiaries**
- Act as the prime interlocutor in the Legal Business Partner role to provide legal support to any queries of the company’s subsidiaries.
- Supervise the coordination of the subsidiaries to the legal counsels within respective legal services units to ensure timely legal support provision.
- Conduct initiatives e.g. knowledge sharing programs or training for the company to create continuous awareness.

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor of Laws (LLB(Hons)).
- Minimum of 12 years working experience in general legal services, corporate legal services with experience in a few key areas including compliance and governance laws and regulations (data protection, anti-bribery, modern slavery, etc).
- Prior experience in similar private holding structure or Group of companies, dispute resolution, international oil and gas and/or maritime exposure is a plus.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to work in a team
