Hardware Designer Protege Trainee (Ref. No. R1007217)

You will enjoy having these responsibilities:
Key accountabilities:
- To provide support to Engineering for the rebranding of drawings and engineering documents.- Responsible for the rebranding of engineering documentation and drawing templates.- Responsible for the review of drawings and notes and update replace any logo references.- Implement new drawing format principles so that references to company logo and name information is not present in drawings and document.- Prepare the change requests in the engineering tools.- Responsible for the 1st pass review of peer rebranded documents and drawings against the originals.- Proficient with the use of development tools, CAD packages (Microstation, AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical).- Rebrand product and project documentation and interface with technical staff members and various other stakeholders.- Contribute to improvements in hardware quality.- Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in solving problems.- Willingness to understand the processes and methodologies associated with managing engineering documents and drawings.- Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and attention to detail to generate quality work. Management skills:
- Manage assigned tasks within schedule and budget.- Keep track of progress on all tasks assigned.- Verify that all assigned work has been completed accurately and on time.

Aptitude:
- Locating and researching source documentation for design activities prior to initiating rebranding updates.- Making timely decisions, both independently and in concert with others.- Identify problems or inefficiencies in the department’s operation and suggest improvements.

You have:
- Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree.- 0 - 2 years related work experience in the rail industry specifically in hardware signalling design.- Computer literate with knowledge of CAD tools (Microstation, AutoCad), Bills of Materials, (SAP), Configuration Management, and Microsoft Office suite.- Well-developed verbal skills to interact effectively and professionally in a variety of forums.- Well-developed writing skills to effectively update instructions clearly to maintain the accuracy of the original instruction.- Good interpersonal and diplomatic skills to deal confidently, courteously, and correctly with people at any level within the organization.- Good technical writing skills.- Ability to work in a team environment.- Maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the job and in relations with others.

Preferred qualifications:
- AutoCAD and other similar tool experience.- Prior knowledge of a configuration management system is an asset.
