We are seeking a motivated and organized professional to join our team as an **APEL.Q Coordinator & Programme Manager (Postgraduate)**. In this dual role, you will play a key part in managing and delivering postgraduate teaching programmes while overseeing the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualification (APEL.Q) process.
Key responsibilities of an APEL Q Coordinator:
**Applicant Assessment**:
- Review and analyze applicant portfolios, documenting their work experience, training certificates, and other relevant evidence to assess their competency against the required learning outcomes of the desired qualification.
- Conduct interviews or additional assessments as needed to further evaluate the applicant's knowledge and skills.
**Process Management**:
- Coordinate with relevant academic departments to verify program requirements and learning outcomes against the applicant's prior learning.
**Quality Assurance**:
- Maintain the integrity of the APEL Q process by adhering to established quality standards and guidelines set by the relevant accreditation body (like MQA in Malaysia).
- Conduct regular quality checks on assessments to ensure consistency and fairness in evaluation.
**Stakeholder Communication**:
- Collaborate with academic staff, program heads, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate the smooth running of the APEL Q process.
**Documentation and Reporting**:
- Maintain detailed records of all applicant assessments, including supporting documentation, evaluation reports, and final decisions.
Key responsibilities as a Postgraduate Manager:
**Student Experience**
- Responsible for managing taught programmes and programme accreditation processes.
- Ensure that programme design and delivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the University and MQA.
- Contribute to the development of academic processes across the institution.
- Contribute to the development of learning and teaching strategies.
- Oversee the monitoring of student progress and provide advice and guidance to personal tutors and students as appropriate.
**Pastoral care**
- Undertake student consultancy.
- Oversee the monitoring of student progress and provide advice and guidance to students as appropriate, including oversight of the needs of students with special requirements and processes pertaining to mitigating circumstances.
- Appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances and assist them in accessing University support.
**Academic Administration**
- Take responsibility for quality, audit and other external assessments in own areas of responsibility environment.
- Experience of managing a team and/or functions in a busy environment with conflicting priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groups.
- Able to demonstrate independent and self-managing work styles.
- Able to plan and prioritize workload.
- Demonstrates strong student-centric approach to ways of working and commitment to high quality standards.
**Job Requirements**:
**Education & Experience**:
- A Master’s degree or higher in Education, Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in academic administration or programme management.
- Prior experience with APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) processes is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with postgraduate programme structures and academic quality assurance.
**Skills & Competencies**:
- Strong understanding of national education regulations, especially related to APEL.Q.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- High attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and coordination skills to liaise with faculty, students, and regulatory bodies.
- Proactive, well-organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and academic management systems.
