Manager, Regional Logistics - APAC
Our APAC Operations team is hiring a Manager for the Regional Logistics functions to join us in Kuala Lumpur/Puchong, Malaysia. The position is a critical role within the transportation sector of our supply chain. This role will analyze internal logistics and transportation networks to enhance reliability, increase agility and manage overall transportation costs for both inbound and outbound traffic. This person, together with the team will analyze and use existing data to develop models for continuous improvement. This person will also lead and implement projects and strategic initiatives as described by Management.
The position supports both Plant & Sales Logistics teams regionally and will provide support to the Logistics Teams in EMEA and NA as needed. This position is tasked for Logistics Optimization & Process Standardization for the APAC region, while ensuring that we are complying with the trade laws of the different geographies and the company. This person will work with the various teams of Steelcase Logistics Coordinators, Service Providers, Vendors and multiple logistics focal points. In this role, the ability to remotely coordinate and collaborate with multiple teams of logistics specialists is key to ensure success of the programs and timely delivery to meet customer needs. This would include management of Virtual or Consolidation/Distribution Hubs in the future. Development of tracking mechanisms and dashboards would be critical as a means of communicating results and status to the various teams. The end in mind would be that this role/department becomes a Centre of Excellence for APAC Logistics.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes to ensure efficiency, sustainability, reliability and cost management.
- Work with in-country logistics teams to develop Regional Logistics Standard Operating Procedures and ensure adherence to the same.
- Develop Logistics strategies with individual geographies business owners by focusing on Shipping & Transportation Consolidation, Warehousing & Distribution to improve Container Cube Utilization.
- Develop Dashboards for real-time data management and tracking of shipments and costs across the region for both inbound and outbound traffic.
- Manage agreed set of KPIs and create a review mechanism with Senior Management at Global Operations and Regional Leaders as well as individual Country Logistics Leaders.
- Work together with the Logistics Analysts to analyze, tabulate and review the data and develop improvement projects/initiatives towards meeting the goals.
- Collaborate with other departments(regional/local) to integrate logistics planning with business processes such as customer sales team, order management, scheduling and manufacturing.
- Work with Service Providers and in-country logistics leads to identify lanes for improved service, capacity and rates with Ocean Carriers.
- Proactively realize and resolve any arising problems or impact of Logistics such as relocation, routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and advise cost implications and efficiency.
- Work with Procurement and in-country business leaders to review service contracts and work with service providers to ensure service is in accordance with the SLA (Service Level Agreement), costs and established timelines
- Demonstrate ongoing commitment for risk reduction, while ensuring compliance with Company policies and International/Local laws and regulations.
- Develop Business Continuity Framework that can be initiated when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects with hands-on trouble shooting skills.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with different parties in a cross functional and cross-cultural environment.
- Show initiative, be responsible and able to use tact and understanding
- Proficiency in presentations and reporting.
- Ability to translate long term objectives into smaller short term implementation plans.
Education/Experience
- Diploma or degree in any field or 5 years working experience in lieu.
- Functional experience in operations management with some knowledge of Logistics management.
- Knowledge of ERP with understanding of Sales and Distribution Modules.
- Have knowledge of import/export regulations and procedures especially in the major markets (China, India, Australia and Southeast Asia).
- Professional Certification in Logistics (CLTD or APICS) would be an advantage.
