**Straits International School Rawang**

**PE Teacher**
- Reports To: Campus Principal / Head of Secondary_

**Purpose of Role**

To deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons that promote physical development, health, fitness, and enjoyment for students across year groups. The PE Teacher will contribute to the effective implementation of the PE curriculum in line with the Cambridge IGCSE standards and support the school's co-curricular sports programme. The role involves lesson planning, teaching, assessment, and active participation in school events and inter-school competitions.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Teaching & Learning**
- Deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons across the primary and secondary levels.
- Support the delivery of the Cambridge IGCSE PE syllabus where applicable.
- Foster a positive and safe learning environment that encourages participation and development in sports and physical activity.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

**Curriculum Support**
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the PE curriculum under the guidance of the Head of PE.
- Incorporate innovative approaches to teaching physical education and promote lifelong fitness habits.

**Assessment & Reporting**
- Monitor and assess student progress using appropriate tools and criteria.
- Provide regular feedback to students and maintain accurate records of achievement.
- Support the preparation of students for IGCSE PE assessments, where relevant.

**Co-Curricular Activities**
- Assist in organising and delivering co-curricular sports activities, school teams, inter-house events, and competitions.
- Promote active participation in sports and fitness activities among all students.

**Resources & Equipment**
- Use sports equipment responsibly and ensure it is well-maintained.
- Inform the Head of PE of any issues regarding resources, safety, or facility needs.Encourage and promote student participation in sports and fitness activities.

**Safeguarding, Health & Safety**
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure health and safety standards are met during lessons, events, and activities.

**Communication & Collaboration**
- Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and participation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the PE department and across the school.

**Person Specification**:
**Essential Qualifications & Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or equivalent).
- Minimum 3-4 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.
- Familiarity with or experience teaching the Cambridge IGCSE PE curriculum.

**Desirable Skills & Competencies**:

- Passion for sport and physical wellbeing.
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with sports events and inter-school competitions.
