**Job Title: Assistant Metrologist**

**Department: Quality Assurance**

**Reports to: Senior Quality Engineer**

**DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

**Key Responsibilities:

- Measurement System and Tool Management**
- Utilize a wide array of precision measurement tools, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), laser measurement systems, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other specialized instruments.
- Develop and execute CMM programs using software like PC-DMIS to support part qualification, production, and troubleshooting.
- Establish, manage, and document a calibration schedule for all metrology equipment, maintaining traceability to international standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025).

**Dimensional Inspection and Quality Assurance**
- Conduct first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final product verification to ensure conformance with engineering drawings and customer requirements.
- Review and interpret complex technical drawings with advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements to ensure parts meet strict dimensional specifications.
- Work with production teams to monitor measurement data during high-precision stamping operations, ensuring timely detection of deviations.

**Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting**
- Gather, analyze, and interpret data from measurement systems to identify trends, outliers, and potential process variations.
- Create detailed dimensional inspection reports and maintain comprehensive records of all measurement data and inspection results for future reference.
- Present measurement data, statistical analyses, and findings to management and make recommendations for improvement.

**Problem-Solving and Continuous Improvement**
- Conduct root cause analysis on any measurement discrepancies or equipment issues, implementing corrective actions to avoid reoccurrence.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to implement measurement-based process improvements, reducing variations and improving product quality.
- Propose new measurement technologies and methods to improve the accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency of quality control processes.

**Compliance and Standards Management**
- Ensure all measurement processes and documentation comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and customer-specific requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison during internal and external audits related to metrology and calibration, ensuring that all records are available and in order.

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metrology, Quality, or related technical field; significant experience in a metrology role may be considered in lieu of a degree.

**Experience**:

- 3-5 years of experience in metrology within a high-precision metal stamping or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in CMM programming, or similar software and advanced measurement system is required.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.

**Skills**:

- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and software (e.g., Minitab, Excel) for analyzing measurement data.
- Advanced skills in using manual and automated measurement instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight tolerances.
- Effective communication skills to clearly explain complex measurement findings.

**Certifications**:
Certification in Metrology or Quality (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician, CMM Programming Certification) is highly desirable.

**Working Conditions**:

- Operates in a manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, metal stamping equipment, and other industrial processes.
- Must be comfortable working in both a lab environment and on the production floor, as needed.
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle various measurement instruments and metal samples, up to 20kg.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM2,800.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
