**Job Title: Driver (Road Safety Focus)**

**Job Summary**:
The driver will be responsible for transporting students and staff safely to and from various locations while prioritising road safety. The primary focus of this role will be to ensure adherence to traffic regulations, maintain vehicle safety, and promote a culture of road safety within the organisation.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Safe Transportation**: Safely operate the designated vehicle(s) to transport students, staff, and authorised personnel to and from school, field trips, and other designated locations.
- **Adherence to Traffic Regulations**: Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and guidelines to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians. This includes obeying speed limits, traffic signals, and road signs.
- **Vehicle Maintenance**: Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on assigned vehicle(s) to ensure they are in optimal condition for safe operation. Report any mechanical issues or concerns promptly to the Transportation Manager.
- **Emergency Response**: Be prepared to respond calmly and effectively in the event of accidents, breakdowns, or other emergencies. Follow established procedures for managing emergency situations and ensuring the safety of passengers.
- **Route Planning**: Plan and map out efficient routes to minimise travel time and ensure timely arrival at destinations. Consider factors such as traffic conditions, road closures, and weather forecasts when planning routes.
- **Communication**: Maintain clear and open communication with the Transportation Manager, school administration, and passengers regarding transportation schedules, route changes, and other relevant information.
- **Student Supervision**: Provide supervision and assistance to students during transportation, ensuring they remain seated, follow safety protocols, and behave appropriately while on board the vehicle.
- **Safety Training**: Participate in ongoing road safety training and professional development programs to enhance driving skills, knowledge of traffic laws, and awareness of best practices in road safety.
- **Vehicle Cleanliness**: Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicle(s) clean and well-maintained at all times. This includes regular cleaning, sanitization, and trash removal to provide a comfortable and hygienic environment for passengers.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, maintenance activities, mileage logs, and other relevant documentation as required by school policies and regulatory requirements.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience as a professional driver preferred.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, road safety regulations, and defensive driving techniques.
- Excellent driving skills and ability to operate vehicles safely in various weather and road conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, especially during emergency situations.
- Punctuality, reliability, and a commitment to prioritising the safety of passengers.
- Flexibility to work variable hours and accommodate changing schedules as needed.
