Specialist Doctors Assistant

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Understands the philosophy, objectives, policies and standards of the hospital and nursing service.
- Adhere to the hospital policies and procedures and nursing code of conduct.
- Keeps confidential of patients’ personal and medical history.
- Listens to ward report before the change of each shift and receive assignments.
- Assists the nurses in doing basic nursing care for patient’s comfort, safety, nutritional and elimination needs.
- Gives bed bath and provide total personal hygiene to non-ambulatory patients. Assist ambulatory patients when necessary.
- Assists staff nurse for dressing, setting intravenous lines, catheterization, swabbing.
- Help staff nurse to clear the trolley after use. Wash and place all instruments in the appropriate place.
- Assists in maintaining record of intake and output chart.
- Assist in lifting, turning and position of patients in bed, bed to chair and bed to trolley using the correct body mechanics.
- Assists in treatment of pressure areas.
- Assists the nurses in sending patient to OT and fetching patient from OT (trained nurse to follow).
- Escort patients to other departments for diagnostic procedures, physiotherapy, outpatient clinics e.g. (for uncomplicated cases) and fetch them back.
- Assist in admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
- Assists in collection of specimen of urine, faeces, sputum and vomit and dispatch them to the lab and collect result back to the ward.
- Assists doctor when required.
- Gives bedpan, urinal to patients and cleans them after used.
- Makes and tidies beds. Change linen when necessary and places soiled linen in the appropriate coloured code laundry bag.
- Clean beds and equipment and tidies patients bedside lockers, cardiac tables, chairs and surrounding areas.( Infected cases should follow the infection Control Policy & Procedure )
- Helps to maintain the cleanliness of pantry, treatment room, utility room and linen room.
- Assist in serving meals and drinks and to collect trays immediately after use.
- Helps to feed patients. Prepares drink for patients at night and when necessary.
- Assists in taking diet orders for new admission and change of diet orders for discharges and post-op patients.
- Collects, cleans and refills patient’s ‘flasks and jugs’.
- Assist in recording daily charges for disposable items used in the ward.
- Collect medicine trolley and patients drugs on discharge when necessary.
- Assists in cleaning and changing lotion on dressing trolley, suction, 3
- Send and collects CSSD items.
- Changes cubicle/room curtains periodically.
- Cleans and tidies the medication fridge.
- Escorts patients to other hospitals on transfer or on investigation like MRI, Angiogram, Mammogram etc.
- Answer phone calls and relay messages.
- Helps to answer patient’s call bell promptly.
- Informs Charge Nurse / Unit Managers off patient’s valuables and belongings for safe keeping.
- Attends staff meeting/conference and in-service training.
- Carries any other duties when instructed by the Nurse Manager / Unit Manager / Charge Nurse especially during emergency.
- Participate in any new services that are introduced by the organization. Ensure conformance to all policies and procedures that are introduced by the management.

**ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS**
- Reports to the Nurse Manager / Staff Nurse in charge
- Responsible to the Nurse Manager / Charge Nurse and staff nurses at the ward / unit / department. Accountable to the Nurse Manager.
- Maintains good and courteous relationship with the co-workers, patients, their families, visitors and other medical staff in the hospital.

**Requirements**:

- Diploma / SPM
- Honest, responsible and a team worker.
- Willingness to work on scheduled hours, shift, weekends and national holidays.
- On the job training/in-service training will be provided.
- Previous nursing experience is an advantage.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent, Contract

**Salary**: RM1,500.00 - RM1,600.00 per month
