**About the Company**:
APPLIED AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES Sdn. Bhd. was established in 1986 and is an associate company of two highly successful public-listed Malaysian companies, Boustead Plantations Berhad and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad. As a leading research centre in tropical plantation crops, our core activities involve research in crop improvement and production, providing advisory services for plantation crops, and producing and selling oil palm tissue culture ramets and seeds.
**About the Unit**:
Our advisory services encompass agronomic support for oil palm, rubber, and other plantation crops. This includes on-site visits by our agronomists to provide expert advice, as well as conducting research on agronomic practices, pest and disease management, and other relevant topics to ensure our recommendations are science-based and data-driven. We collect and analyze comprehensive data to inform our advice to clients.
**Your Role**:
**Daily Clerical Tasks**:
- **Record Keeping**: Maintaining accurate and organized records of research data, experiments, samples, and lab supplies. This may involve both physical and digital record-keeping systems.
- **Data Entry**: Inputting and verifying research data into databases and spreadsheets. Ensuring accuracy and consistency in data management.
- **Inventory Management**: Tracking lab supplies, equipment, and other assets. Managing stock levels, ordering supplies as needed, and maintaining inventory records.
- **Correspondence**: Assisting with correspondence, filing documents, and managing incoming and outgoing mail.
- **Scheduling**: Assisting with scheduling appointments, meetings, and lab work.
- **Report Preparation**: Assisting with the preparation of reports and documents, potentially including formatting and compiling data.
**Administrative Assistance**:
- **Office Management**: Supporting general office administration, which might include tasks such as photocopying, faxing, and maintaining office supplies.
- **Laboratory Support**: Assisting with laboratory organization and maintenance, potentially including cleaning, preparing equipment, and managing waste disposal according to safety protocols.
- **Communication**: Handling internal and external communications, answering phones, and providing administrative support to research staff.
- **Event Coordination**: Potentially assisting with the planning and coordination of research-related events or meetings.
**Key Responsibilities**:
The Research Clerk will play a crucial role supporting the Research Officer and contributing to the smooth operation of our research and advisory services. Responsibilities will include:
**Research and Client Support**:
- **Data Preparation and Tracking**: Collaborating closely with the Research Officer to prepare and organize all necessary data for client visits and ongoing projects. This includes extracting relevant information from our database, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and maintaining detailed records of all data throughout the year.
- **Client Correspondence and Logistics**: Managing all correspondence with clients, including responding to inquiries, scheduling appointments, and arranging logistics for client visits and other related activities. This requires proactive communication and attention to detail.
- **Data Compilation and Reporting**: Compiling and analyzing data from various sources, including our database, to prepare comprehensive advisory reports for clients. This involves summarizing and interpreting data, ensuring data accuracy, and adhering to reporting standards. The role includes proofreading reports for clarity and accuracy. Finally, responsible for sending finalized reports to clients through appropriate channels.
**Laboratory Administration**:
- **Laboratory Management**: Overseeing the general administration of the laboratory. This includes maintaining lab supplies, equipment, and a safe and organized work environment. Assisting with lab safety procedures.
- **Procurement**: Managing the lab's purchasing process, including creating and processing purchase orders, tracking orders, reconciling invoices, and maintaining accurate records of all purchases and expenses.
- **Data Summary and Filing**: Preparing regular summaries of lab data, archiving research documents, and maintaining a well-organized filing system. This ensures that all information is readily accessible and stored appropriately.
**Communication and General Office Support**:
- **Telephone Management**: Answering incoming telephone calls, taking messages, and directing calls to the appropriate personnel. This requires professional communication and the ability to quickly identify who should receive the message.
