Horticulturist (Sandakan)

**JOB SUMMARY**

Manage the development, protection, enhancement/cultivation and harvesting of agriculture or plants for the production of horticultural crops. This role involves managing agriculture facilities and farming staff to ensure the health and growth of agriculture/plants species, and implementing sustainable practices to optimize production and environmental impact.

**JOB DESCRIPTIONS**
- To develop expertise in plant health and growth, including propagation, cross-breeding, genetics, irrigation, soil health, pest control, disease management and not limiting toconducting experiments, evaluating progress and providing regular progress update to Management.
- Perform research on plants evolution, genetics and development to better understand a plant’s growth cycle and conduct experiments to see how plants grow under various condition and to constantly stay up-to-date on new agricultural advancements or research.
- Manage existing farms including providing valuable guidance tofarmers, landscapers and others in agriculture and gardening, helping them improve their cultivation techniques, Farmers can plant so that they can harvest at an appropriate time in addition to testing ofvarious mixture of fertilizer to see which mixture is best for specific plants to ensure that farmers improve their crop yields.environmental impact in line with the company Environmental, Economic, Social &Governance (EESG) framework.
- Maintains database of plants propagated, including methods used, successes and monitor the plants and work with farming staff to create crop schedule which shows when explore innovative horticultural techniques, including hydroponics or organic farming
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards to minimize any other assignment assign by Management from time to time.

**Qualification and Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or Botany or a related field preferred.

**Job Requirements**

1. Minimum of 4 - 10 years of experience in agricultural or a related field.

2. Knowledge of appropriate planting/transplanting techniques and watering methods including plant pests, pathogens and diseases and willingness to learn.

3. In-depth knowledge of plant biology, soil science, and pest management

4. Proficiency in the use of horticultural tools, equipment and technology.

6. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

7. Strong communication and team work abilities.

8. Good command of both spoken and written English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin

(added advantage).

**This position is needed to be based in Sandakan and our Head Office in Kuala Lumpur.**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
