As a purpose-driven organisation committed to providing the best service and support to our policyholders, we are seeking a professional to join our General Insurance team as **AVP, Marine, Aviation and Transit** **Underwriting.**

**The Role**:

- Oversee, underwrite, manage and develop the marine cargo, hull, liability and aviation classes
- Ensure delivery of the quotes are of high underwriting standards
- Provide appropriate professional services to business units regarding policy matters in a clear, accurate and timely manner
- Review renewals with claims experiences and to provide advise whether to accept or decline risk
- Visit branches and provide consultative advice on classes mentioned above
- Review exception reports and to analyse the performance of the respective portfolios on a monthly basis
- Review processes on a continuous basis, identify and resolve service gaps through constructive feedback and implement process improvements where appropriate
- Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks
- Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
- Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices

**The Person**:

- Possess a recognised degree in any field, or Insurance qualifications at intermediate level
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience in Marine Underwriting in General Insurance is preferred
- Strong team leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to structure, build, align and focus a high performing team with the requisite experience and capabilities to grow the business.
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills to manage multiple projects/initiatives and ongoing demands
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
- Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
