Environmental Officer

Responsible for the overall operation of an industrial effluent treatment system (IETS) and ensuring it complies with legal requirements and industry best practices.
- In charge of the IETS system, solving problems during and after the water treatment process, and ensuring the IETS is operating optimally.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on wastewater treatment equipment, identifying issues and implementing timely repairs and liaise with maintenance for preventive or corrective action.
- Provide instruction on proper testing and processing procedures including mixing times, operating temperatures, and ingredients especially for WWTP operations.
- Prepare reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and compliance metrics for management review.
- To carry out routine analysis for raw effluents from production plants and treated effluent samples.
- Ensure all activities adhere to relevant environmental regulations and company policies related to industrial effluent treatment system.
- To conduct research and development work not limited to IETS operation and samples initiated by supervisor/ management. Recommendation to be suggested for improvement and optimization
- Safety & Cleanliness to ensure that standard operating procedures and safety regulations are followed for general cleanliness of the lab.
- To work with IETS operation and engineering team to improve water discharge quality and quantity following the standard stipulated by DOE.
- Keep up to date on the latest IETS testing methods, and requirements, also methodology for processing effluents.
- As the DOE certified competent person for Industrial effluent who shall be responsible to manage and handle the company’s wastewater treatment plant including analysis of effluent and daily reporting to DOE on the quality of wastewater discharge.
- Report and record any environmental violations on wastewater discharge both internal and external of the plant and the actions taken to correct them.
- To attend competency course CePIETSO-BP as a competent person registered with DOE.
