Clinical Psychologist

SPARK Child Development Centre (SCDC) is a child rehabilitation center focused on therapist-parent partnership.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**1. Assessment/Therapy**:

- To provide psychological consultation, assessment, and produce assessment reports
- To provide psychological intervention/psychotherapy program for individuals, groups, and/or staffs
- To help students to understand and deal with social, behavioral, and personal problems.
- To provide crisis intervention where necessary.
- To provide support for students and family of students experiencing crisis.
- To make an assessment where necessary and refer when appropriate.
- To keep confidential and up-to-date therapy notes and assessment reports for all cases.
- To monitor progress of students following the proposed intervention plan
- To review progress of students with the multidisciplinary team members which includes of pediatricians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapist, dietitian, special needs educators, and also the family members
- To advise, suggest, supervise therapists in conducting therapy
- To provide parental training to families/parents
- To consult/receive supervision from appointed consultant Pediatrician, Senior Clinical Psychologist and/ Psychiatrist and/or Manager on management of mental health cases and clinical skills development of the team.
- To offer consultation to junior Clinical Psychologists/Counsellors.
- To assist in planning and implementation of any individual works such as IEP, self-care skills, communication skills, pre-literacy skills, socio-emotional-behavioural functioning etc

**2. Self Development and Prevention**:

- To look at developmental, preventive and remedial needs of the students. An emphasis on preventive and developmental workshops to enhance students' personal, social, and academic growth and to provide students with the life skills needed to deal with problems.
- To provide training/share relevant knowledge to staff which contributes to supporting students with mental health or personal issues, where necessary.
- Source for relevant self-help and self-development materials and resources for students e.g. Self Help Books, Website links etc

**3. Student Groups**:

- To provide support to the staff in charge of Peer Support Club on training and supervision of Peer Support Club members.
- To provide training where required.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- Holding a current practicing certificate registered with the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (“MSCP”) and under the Allied Health Professions Act, 2016 (Act 774) upon Act 774 coming into force.
- Display professionalism and interest in continuous professional development.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- High level of oral and written English language proficiency.
- Experience in group training and group therapy.
