Solar Panel Technician

The Site Technician - Solar Panels is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of solar panel systems at various customer locations. This role involves working with the latest solar technology, performing electrical work, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring the solar systems are efficiently operating. The Site Technician plays a key role in helping clients transition to renewable energy sources by ensuring the solar panel systems are safe, reliable, and high-performing.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Installation**:

- Install solar panel systems (photovoltaic panels), inverters, electrical wiring, and other system components according to established plans and specifications.
- Perform roof and ground mounting of solar arrays following safety and installation guidelines.
- Connect solar systems to electrical panels and the utility grid (where applicable).
- **Maintenance & Repairs**:

- Conduct routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of installed solar systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair solar panel systems, electrical components, and other hardware in case of failure or malfunction.
- Clean and maintain solar panel systems to ensure maximum efficiency and lifespan.
- **System Monitoring**:

- Monitor solar systems remotely and on-site to detect faults or performance issues.
- Perform system upgrades or retrofitting as needed.
- Utilize monitoring software to check the system's efficiency and generate reports.
- **Safety & Compliance**:

- Adhere to all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow local, state, and federal regulations and codes for electrical installations and solar energy systems.
- Ensure proper grounding and electrical work to prevent hazards like electrical shock, fire, and damage.
- **Customer Interaction**:

- Communicate effectively with customers to provide updates on the status of installations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Address customer inquiries and explain the operation of solar systems and system performance.
- Provide advice on energy-saving tips and the benefits of solar technology.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance work, and repairs.
- Document inspections, electrical system designs, and any changes made to the solar panel system.
- Complete job reports and provide feedback to supervisors or project managers on work progress.
- **Training & Development**:

- Keep updated on new solar technologies, installation techniques, and safety protocols.
- Attend training sessions, seminars, or workshops to stay current in the renewable energy field.
- Assist and mentor junior technicians as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent (Technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field preferred).
- Relevant certifications such as NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) for solar panel installation, or other solar-related certifications (preferred but not required).
- Experience in electrical work, particularly with photovoltaic solar panel systems.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring, inverters, and solar panel components.
- Familiarity with local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work at heights and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license (for travel to job sites).

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions (sun, rain, heat, etc.).
- Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments, sometimes in remote locations.

**Work Environment**:

- Field-based role, requiring travel to various sites.
- Work performed outdoors and in all weather conditions.
- Flexibility in working hours (including early mornings, evenings, or weekends) may be required based on project deadlines.

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
