**Position Overview**:
The Chief Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and overseeing meals that meet the nutritional and dietary needs of residents in the Elder Care Centre. This role ensures that all food services adhere to health and safety regulations while providing delicious and balanced meals.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1.** **Meal Planning and Preparation**:
- Design weekly menus that align with residents’ nutritional requirements, dietary restrictions, and preferences.
- Prepare and cook meals in a timely and hygienic manner, ensuring high-quality standards.
**2. Kitchen Management**:
- Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and service.
- Monitor inventory and coordinate with suppliers for fresh and quality ingredients.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food items to maintain freshness and prevent waste.
**3. Compliance and Safety**:
- Ensure all meals are prepared in compliance with food safety and health regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to hygiene standards.
- Conduct regular checks of kitchen equipment and report maintenance issues.
**4. Team Leadership**:
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Develop work schedules and assign duties to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
**5. Resident Engagement**:
- Interact with residents to gather feedback on meals and adjust menus to improve satisfaction.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to accommodate special dietary needs.
**6. Budget Management**:
- Plan and manage the kitchen budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor expenses and identify opportunities to minimize costs without compromising quality.
**7. Other Duties**:
- Assist with special events and activities requiring meal preparation.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management to support the Centre’s operations.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Proven experience as a cook or chef, preferably in elder care, healthcare, or institutional settings.
- Knowledge of dietary planning, including specific needs such as low-sodium, diabetic, or pureed diets.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Culinary certification or relevant qualifications are preferred.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
