Technician

**Job Description**:

- Provide support service to the Maintenance Manager
- Technician to assist in meeting the strategic goals of the department
- Perform general and emergency repairs and maintenance to all plant and equipment based on skill and experience level
- Carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment as per the daily checklist and ensure that inspections required by Government authorities are conducted and documented
- Carry out general room repairs, Public Area preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as per computerized system
- Review daily log book, rectify or follow up on all items left unsolved from any previous shifts in relation to mechanical or electrical systems, discuss the same with the Engineering Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager
- Ensure Fire and Engineering safety features operate at peak efficiency
- Ensure proper records are kept relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel
- Ensure proper measures are taken to protect the environment and the Hotel’s adherence to it
- Monitor energy and water management systems to minimize wastage and costs using daily/weekly utility readings as a reference point
- Maintain all workshop tools and equipment for the running of electrical workshop’s trade and functions
- Ensure that electrical & mechanical workshops have adequate stock and materials in Stores and that all workshops are kept in a clean and safe environment. Raise purchase orders as required
- Attend Engineering and any other meetings as required
- To comply with the grooming and uniform standards as per employee handbook/policy and procedure
- Attend training courses and workshops as scheduled
- Participates as a pro-active team member in the Hotel’s Energy conservation program by making appropriate recommendations to Engineering supervisors on energy conservation improvements
- Becomes thoroughly familiar with Hotel emergency procedures and perform assigned duties per Hotel and departmental procedures
- Ensure compliance with legislated workplace health and safety requirements
- Responsible for the cleanliness of all plants/mechanical equipment rooms
- Ensure all requests for maintenance are carried out within an acceptable time frame
- Assist all engineering connectors with maintenance and repairs when required
- Perform equipment repairs as per manufacture recommendations
- Repairs and maintains the physical building structure including minor installation work as and when required
- Liaise with engineering connectors in their daily activities and assigned projects as directed by the Engineering Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager
- Perform all assigned tasks to ensure the works have been completed in a reasonable time frame and to a standard pertaining to the complex and as set by the Engineering management

Work Experience

Knowledge and Experience
- Certificate/Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or any recognized certification
- Charge man and/or Boilerman Certification is an added advantage
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a capacity of Engineering Assistant/Technician
- 4 to 5 years of working experience in a reputable 3 or 4 star Hotel property
- Technically competent in preventive and maintenance for the Hotel, undertakes any renovations/projects/upgrading works etc.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results oriented

**Skills**:

- Strong Communication Skills - must be able to speak, read and write
- Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Preventive & Maintenance System
