- Tentukan peralatan atau kaedah kimpalan yang sesuai berdasarkan keperluan
- Sediakan komponen untuk kimpalan mengikut spesifikasi (cth. memotong bahan dengan gergaji berkuasa untuk memadankan pengukuran)
- Mengendalikan pengisar sudut untuk menyediakan bahagian-bahagian yang mesti dikimpal
- Jajarkan komponen menggunakan calipers, pembaris dan lain-lain dan kepingan pengapit
- Komponen kimpalan menggunakan peralatan kimpalan manual atau separa automatik dalam pelbagai kedudukan (menegak, mendatar atau overhed)
- Membaiki jentera dan komponen lain dengan kepingan kimpalan dan jurang pengisian
- Menguji dan memeriksa permukaan dan struktur dikimpal untuk menemui kelemahan

Mengekalkan peralatan dalam keadaan yang tidak menjejaskan keselamatan
