OVERVIEW
A handyman performs a broad range of maintenance and repair tasks, including minor plumbing, carpentry, and painting, while a plumber specializes in installing, repairing, and maintaining water, drainage, and sanitation systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
**Handyman Responsibilities**:
Performing a wide variety of tasks, such as minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
Painting walls, installing shelves, assembling furniture, and repairing doors and windows.
Conducting routine inspections and responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner.
Troubleshooting and repairing household appliances and equipment.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
Strong knowledge of various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, and painting.
Proficiency in using a range of hand and power tools.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects.
**Plumber Responsibilities**:
Installing, repairing, and maintaining water and drainage systems in commercial office buildings and cafetaria.
Installing and replacing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, and showers.
Diagnosing and fixing issues like low water pressure, blocked drains, and leaky pipes.
Ensuring all plumbing work adheres to local regulations and building codes.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
Specialized knowledge of plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage, and sewage systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Proficiency with plumbing tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, wrenches, and soldering equipment.
Strong understanding of health and safety procedures, especially those related to water and sanitation.
EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS
KEY COMPETENCIESCertificate in Vocational/SKM/Diploma in Engineering
Minimum 3 years’ experience in facilities management or building operations with knowledge of plumbing systems.
Able to work under pressure and in a fast-changing environment
Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia.
