We are looking for a talented, dedicated professional to be a Kuala Lumpur-based Senior Regional Officer for University of Newcastle (UON), Australia. The Senior Regional Officer will be based in Malaysia and will be fully dedicated to representing the institution.

The role’s primary focus will be carrying out the university’s recruitment activities in South East Asia while other responsibilities include assisting with partnerships, market strategy and brand building. The position involves frequent, sophisticated interaction with international clients and significant travel time is required.

As a Senior Regional Officer you will implement marketing plans to recruit students from the Southeast Asian markets identified above. Specifically, you will:

- identify, develop and support institutional partnerships;
- develop positive relationships with key stakeholders within the aforementioned markets such as education agents, prospective students and other key stakeholders
- collaborate with internal and external stakeholders;
- enhance student attraction, conversion and retention; and
- expand, extend and enhance student experience and success initiatives (contributing to UON’s ‘value proposition’).

**Core Responsibilities & Typical Activities**
- Be accountable for the enhancement and growth of international and institutional engagement.
- Ensure planning and budgeting of resources results in the optimization of institutional partnerships to achieve corporate objectives to improve international recruitment and engagement with UON
- Ongoing, proactive review and evaluation of existing activities, contributing to delivery of a mutually beneficial strategy, and design and implementation of improved and new strategy and approaches, to meet changes in market and/or university business requirements.
- A strong understanding of stakeholder needs (students; alumni; academic and administrative units) and how this relates to UON Global corporate objectives, student engagement and student success programs, and their impact on the wider University, in order to drive effective relationships.
- Lead the development of strong constructive networks and relationships with internal and external partners, with strong lines of communication and engagement.
- Represent the University at meetings with relevant organizations to achieve desirable strategic outcomes.
- Set benchmarks and lead by example in providing outstanding standards of service and partnership with all stakeholders across UON faculty and divisions, including prospective and continuing international students, alumni, fellow staff members and external Regional Officers.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of relevant standards, legislation and political frameworks (both Australia and that of Emerging Markets/s)
- Provide high-level advice and guidance on the business practices, protocols, principles, ethics in the emerging markets.
- Lead the preparation and submission of reports and review collated statistics to inform planning and strategy, as requested by the Director, or by other Senior Staff.

**Essential Criteria**
- 5+ years of experience in increasingly responsible roles related to education or international education.
- Clear, proven understanding of the international education market including thorough knowledge of university policies and external environment
- A thorough understanding of the educational value of a diverse and inclusive community
- Experience representing a known institution will be a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree with good to strong academic performance.
- Strong English fluency. Proficient in business writing. Able to discuss strategy and analysis with English speakers.
- Study or experience abroad strongly preferred. Study or experience in Australia even better.
- Voluntary or other life experience that demonstrates creativity, hard work, persistence or drive to succeed.
- Highly-developed problem-solving skills, the ability to work individually on tasks and collaboratively in a team environment, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly-developed organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple complex tasks with competing deadlines.
- Proven capacity to develop and implement plans to achieve defined outcomes.
- Demonstrated extensive experience working at a senior level in administration or customer service.
