Innovation Officer

As an Innovation Officer, you are not just a facilitator — you are a trainer, mentor, and role model to the next generation of makers and innovators. You will lead after-school programmes, mentor learners and educators, manage the MakerSpace, and bring learning to life through meaningful partnerships and outreach.

**We are looking for an Innovation Officer who will be able to**:

- Commit to the role for a minimum of 1 year.
- Lead and train students and educators in Chumbaka’s after-school innovation and technology programmes, ensuring engaging and high-quality learning experiences.
- Mentor students in project-based learning, guiding them to develop their ideas, build prototypes, and present their innovations.
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and outreach programmes across Klang Valley, with hands-on activities in coding, electronics, digital design, and making.
- Manage and maintain the MakerSpace to ensure it is an inspiring, accessible, and safe space for exploration and creativity.
- Build strong relationships with schools, universities, NGOs, and community partners to scale impact and create collaborative learning ecosystems.
- Inspire and support student-led innovation projects, competitions, and showcases that go beyond classroom learning.

**Who We’re Looking For**

You could be a fresh graduate or an experienced professional from backgrounds such as Engineering, Information Technology, Education, Psychology, or other related fields.

More importantly, you are someone who:

- Has strong communication and presentation skills - you’ll be teaching and inspiring others.
- Is tech-savvy and confident with tools and platforms (e.g., coding, electronics, design software, etc.).
- Is highly organised, independent, and capable of managing multiple programmes and timelines.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is a quick learner with a positive attitude.
- Is comfortable working with children, educators, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
- Is willing to travel with own vehicle.

**Working Hours**

Working hours are typically around 37 to 45 hours per week. Flexible hours may apply, but some programmes require weekend work.

**What to Expect**
- While some work is office-based, you will frequently be on the ground, delivering programmes in schools and communities.
- Expect to communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders: students, parents, teachers, sponsors, and government partners.
- Dress casually for day-to-day training, but be ready for formal engagements when representing Chumbaka with external stakeholders.
- You’ll need resilience, empathy, and creativity — not every session will be smooth, but your impact will be meaningful.
- In the first few weeks, you will be trained on the ins-and-outs of our tech content & mentoring methodology.

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
