Primary Science Teacher

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Teachers are responsible for defining the curriculum, standards, and pacing to use in the classroom in coordination with the other teachers and school leaders.
• They must create an efficient and effective learning environment in their classroom.
• The teacher must be able to collaborate with the teaching team to develop project work arising out of thoughtful reflection on student interest and work
• Faculty must be able to establish and communicate clear expectations for students inclusive of respect, collaboration, participation, community-building and problem solving.
• The teacher must work with students in a democratic fashion modeling good citizenship as their leader, modelling and developing critical thinking and responsibility, as a classroom and school community member.
• The teacher must provide opportunities for individual and small group investigation and skills building; cultivating motivation and knowledge through interest development.
• Teachers must keep clear and reliable records for their classroom in all respects, and must provide effective feedback frequently for the benefit of the student, their own analysis, and the understanding of the family.
• Teachers are the backbone of the school and therefore they must participate in most school events to help motivate, reward and supervise the students.
• Teachers must provide enrichment and remedial instruction as well as lead extra-curricular and co-curricular growth opportunities on a regular basis for their students.
• If the school requires them to participate in supervisory activities they must report on time and maintain vigilance to ensure safety and compliance with school rules.
• Periodically teachers will be responsible for promoting their work and the school to a broader community, and regularly they are responsible for ensuring their work and the work of their students is communicated through social media, admissions events, community meetings, and announcements.
• Teachers must endeavor to preserve their own reputation and the school's reputation for high standards and academic integrity.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree (in science, education, or a related field) is usually the minimum.
• A teaching qualification/certificate (e.g., Diploma in Education, PGDE/PGCE-type credential or equivalent) is often preferred.
• Experience in teaching and curriculum knowledge (e.g., Cambridge or international programmes) is commonly expected.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2, RM3,200.00 per hour
