About the Role:
Tawau Cocoa Village is seeking a creative and visionary Landscape Architect to design and develop a year-round, visually stunning garden at our tourism site. The focus is on creating a mixed planting landscape—flowers, shrubs, and ornamental plants—that is sustainable, easy to maintain, and visually impressive, providing a scenic and photogenic experience for visitors while complementing the ongoing cocoa plantation.
- Design and implement a large-scale landscaped garden with flowers and ornamental plants suited to Malaysia's tropical climate.
- Select plant species to ensure year-round color, texture, and visual appeal.
- Plan layouts, colour schemes, and plant arrangements to create tourist-friendly, photogenic zones.
- Collaborate with horticulturists, maintenance teams, and cocoa plantation staff to ensure smooth integration with existing operations.
- Monitor plant health, growth, and maintenance schedules to maintain the beauty of the landscape.
- Incorporate sustainable landscaping practices, including efficient irrigation, soil improvement, and pest management.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and project timelines for landscape development.
- Provide creative input for seasonal events, themed areas, or visitor attractions to enhance tourism appeal.
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related field.
- Knowledge of tropical plants, flowering cycles, and sustainable horticultural practices.
- Proficiency in landscape design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar).
- Creative, detail-oriented, and able to produce high-impact, aesthetically pleasing designs.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
- Passion for creating tourist-friendly, sustainable, and visually captivating landscapes.
