Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Officer/Manager to lead and enforce all SHE programs and regulations during the construction of a mission-critical Data Centre project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, promoting a proactive safety culture, and maintaining compliance with all local, national, and client specific SHE standards.


Key Responsibilities

SHE Program Management & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project's comprehensive SHE Management System and site-specific safety plans, in alignment with company policies and legal requirements (e.g., OSHA, local labor laws).
  • Conduct regular, thorough site inspections and safety audits to identify, document, and correct potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
  • Ensure all personnel, including subcontractors and visitors, adhere to site SHE rules and procedures, particularly those related to working at height, electrical safety, confined spaces, and heavy lifting.
  • Manage the permit-to-work system (PTW) for all high-risk activities.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to allocate necessary resources for SHE initiatives.

Risk Assessment & Incident Management

  • Lead and document formal Risk Assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for all major construction activities.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents, near-misses, and occupational illnesses to determine root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of all SHE documentation, training, incidents, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and submit regular SHE performance reports to the management team and client.

Training & Culture

  • Conduct and coordinate mandatory SHE induction training for all new site personnel.
  • Develop and deliver targeted safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to promote a positive safety culture.

Environmental Compliance

  • Oversee site environmental compliance, focusing on waste management and disposal, spill prevention, storm water pollution prevention, and adherence to environmental permits.
  • Monitor noise, dust, and other environmental impacts resulting from construction activities and implement controls to minimize their effect.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a dedicated SHE role within the construction industry.
  • Essential experience on large commercial or mission-critical projects (e.g., Data Centres, Industrial) is required.
  • Recognized Professional Safety Certification (e.g., NEBOSH International General Certificate/Diploma, CSP, or local equivalent certification).
  • Solid knowledge of local and national safety legislation and environmental regulations.
  • Proven experience in leading accident investigations and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence behavior at all levels of the project.
