Key Accountabilities

Operational Excellence

  • Operate Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs) to deliver bulk explosives safely and efficiently.
  • Perform manual labor tasks, often in challenging environments, including mine benches in hot, dusty conditions and on uneven ground.
  • Conduct equipment pre-start checks, calibrations, and quality control to ensure optimal performance.
  • Load and unload raw materials, handle explosives, and assist with shot preparation (e.g., measuring holes, stemming, and setting up fencing).
  • Safely drive and operate ancillary equipment, ensuring compliance with traffic management plans (TMP).

Safety & Compliance

  • Strictly adhere to Orica's Safety Charter and operational standards.
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and all required training.
  • Report any incidents, hazards, or unsafe practices immediately.
  • Handle and store dangerous goods in compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Maintain first aid kits and emergency equipment, and ensure proper housekeeping on-site.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Work effectively as part of a crew, adapting to varying team sizes and site conditions.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, supporting them in achieving operational targets.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices to enhance productivity and safety.

Role Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in heavy industries, preferably mining.
  • Valid driver's license - Class E
  • Mechanical aptitude; experience with basic fault-finding, auto electrical, hydraulic systems, or fiber optics is a plus.
  • Compliance with dangerous goods regulations (SSAN or equivalent Dangerous Goods License).
  • Understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and work permit systems.
