Senior Lecturer

Job Overview

The Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality teaching, advancing scholarly activities, and supporting the academic and clinical training of medical students. This position encompasses teaching in both pre-clinical and clinical settings, contributing to curriculum development, engaging in impactful research, and participating in service activities that align with the mission of the Faculty of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

2. Deliver lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and clinical teaching to undergraduate medical students.

3. Prepare, review, and update teaching materials, assessments, and examination questions (including OSCEs and clinical exams).
4. Supervise student projects, clinical case presentations, and research activities.
5. Provide mentoring, academic advising, and facilitate small-group learning activities (e.g., PBL, CBL).

6. Ensure teaching practices comply with Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) standards and relevant professional accreditation requirements.

7. Research & Scholarly Activities

8. Conduct scholarly research in medical education or clinical disciplines.

9. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.

10. Collaborate on research projects within the faculty and across disciplines.

11. Academic Administration & Service

12. Contribute to curriculum review, programme development, and quality assurance initiatives.

13. Serve on faculty and university committees as required.

14. Support faculty events, outreach programmes, and student-led activities.

15. Professional Development & Leadership

16. Engage in continuous professional development in medical education and clinical practice.

17. Mentor junior academic staff and contribute to departmental growth.
18. Participate in community engagement, health promotion, and continuing medical education programmes.

Qualifications

Required

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by the Malaysian Medical Council.
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Master's in Clinical Speciality, PhD, Medical Education) is preferred.

Preferred

• MBBS with demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice.
