Job Summary:
The Ward Attendant is responsible for assisting in the delivery and serving of meals to patients in the ward, ensuring food is served according to hospital diet orders, maintaining hygiene, and providing basic support to ward operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meal Delivery & Serving
- Deliver meal trays from the kitchen to patients according to ward and bed numbers.
- Serve food to patients following their prescribed diet plan.
- Diet & Order Compliance
- Ensure correct diet types are served according to patient diet instructions (e.g. normal diet, soft diet, diabetic, low salt, etc.).
- Double-check patient names and bed numbers before serving meals.
- Hygiene & Safety
- Practice proper hand hygiene before and after handling food trays.
- Ensure food trolleys, trays, and utensils are clean and hygienic at all times.
- Follow hospital infection control and food safety guidelines.
- Post-Meal Duties
- Collect used trays and return them to the kitchen after meal rounds.
- Clean and organize the pantry or serving area.
- Report any issues with food service (late delivery, missing items, wrong diet) to the nurse or dietary department.
- Patient Support
- Communicate politely and respectfully with patients.
- Assist in simple non-clinical tasks as directed by nursing staff.
- Coordination with Staff
- Work closely with nurses, kitchen crew, and housekeeping staff to maintain smooth ward operations.
Requirements & Skills:
- Minimum SPM/Diploma.
- Able to follow instructions and hospital procedures.
- Basic communication skills in Bahasa Melayu and/or English.
- Physically fit and able to push food trolleys.
- Knowledge of cleanliness and hygiene is an advantage.
- Experience in hospital or food service environment is an added advantage.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM1, RM2,000.00 per month
