As the Transport Team Leader, you will lead, grow, and manage a profitable team of engineers and specialists delivering high-value transportation consultancy services across rail, highways, aviation, and maritime markets in Malaysia. You will shape and execute strategies that leverage the Arup brand, technical excellence, and market insights to build strong client relationships and drive sustainable business growth. Your role will unify vision, capability development, and operational excellence to meet client needs and achieve outstanding commercial outcomes.
The Opportunity
- Lead the establishment, performance, and growth of Arup's Transport team in Malaysia, ensuring excellence in delivery and commercial outcomes.
- Drive transportation consultancy services nationwide, securing major work, negotiating key contracts, and overseeing financial performance.
- Develop and implement business operating plans aligned with Arup's strategic vision while enhancing team capabilities to meet market demands.
- Act as Submitting Person / QP / Project Director / Project Manager / Design Manager / Reviewer for major transport and infrastructure projects.
- Build strong internal and external relationships, ensuring effective project delivery, robust technical reviews, and adherence to HSEQ and risk management standards.

Is this role right for you?
- Recognised tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's degree or higher), with PEPC registration or international chartership considered a strong advantage.
- Minimum 15-20 years' experience delivering large, complex transportation and infrastructure projects, with a proven ability to secure strategic work.
- Strong local market knowledge, deep client networks, and experience working with major Malaysian and international clients.
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams, combined with mentorship capability, commercial acumen, and innovative strategic thinking.
- Excellent communication skills, sound understanding of relevant legislation and standards, and a drive to excel in high-performance environments.
