Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standard recipes.
  • Assist in food preparation such as cutting, chopping, marinating, and portioning.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared on time, especially during peak student hours.
  • Maintain food presentation, taste, and quality.

Kitchen Operations

  • Assist in receiving, checking, and storing raw materials and supplies.
  • Ensure proper labelling, storage, and rotation (FIFO system).
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the supervisor.

Hygiene & Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Follow food safety regulations (MeSTI / HACCP guidelines if applicable).
  • Ensure safe handling of hot equipment and sharp tools.
  • Comply with all hygiene standards required for handling student meals.

Teamwork & Support

  • Work closely with Commis 2, commis helpers, and service crew.
  • Support the Chef or Supervisor with any additional tasks.
  • Assist in preparing food for special events such as school functions.
Requirements
  • Minimum SPM or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in kitchen/food preparation (canteen or cafeteria experience preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques.
  • Able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good hygiene practices and discipline.
  • Willing to work early mornings and during school peak hours.
