Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook menu items according to standard recipes.
- Assist in food preparation such as cutting, chopping, marinating, and portioning.
- Ensure all meals are prepared on time, especially during peak student hours.
- Maintain food presentation, taste, and quality.
Kitchen Operations
- Assist in receiving, checking, and storing raw materials and supplies.
- Ensure proper labelling, storage, and rotation (FIFO system).
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the supervisor.
Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Follow food safety regulations (MeSTI / HACCP guidelines if applicable).
- Ensure safe handling of hot equipment and sharp tools.
- Comply with all hygiene standards required for handling student meals.
Teamwork & Support
- Work closely with Commis 2, commis helpers, and service crew.
- Support the Chef or Supervisor with any additional tasks.
- Assist in preparing food for special events such as school functions.
- Minimum SPM or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in kitchen/food preparation (canteen or cafeteria experience preferred).
- Basic knowledge of cooking techniques.
- Able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good hygiene practices and discipline.
- Willing to work early mornings and during school peak hours.
