Welder

1. Job Summary

We are seeking a competent Welder to perform a variety of welding tasks involving different metals and alloys. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and components according to specifications, while adhering strictly to our company's safety and quality standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Welding Duties:

• Read and interpret production drawings, blueprints, and ISO symbols.
• Measure, cut, grind, and assemble metal components (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc.) using appropriate tools and machinery.
• Perform high-quality welding using various processes, with a strong emphasis on:
• SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding / "Arc" or "Stick")
• GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding / "MIG" or "MAG")
• FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding)
• GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding / "TIG")
• Weld components in various positions (Flat, Horizontal, Vertical, Overhead - 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, etc.) as required by the project.
• Operate thermal cutting equipment like plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene torches.

Quality Assurance & Inspection:

• Perform self-inspection of welds to ensure they are free from defects such as cracks, porosity, and undercut.
• Ensure all work meets the dimensions and specifications outlined in the engineering drawings.
• Work with Quality Control (QC) inspectors for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) like Visual Testing (VT), Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT), or Radiographic Testing (RT) if required.

Safety & Compliance:

• Strictly adhere to the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) guidelines and company safety procedures.
• Maintain a "Safety First" attitude, identifying and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions.
• Properly use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – welding helmet, fire-resistant coveralls, safety shoes, gloves, and respirators.
• Participate in Toolbox Talks and safety briefings.
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized work area (5S methodology).

Equipment & Teamwork:

• Perform daily setup, operation, and basic preventative maintenance of welding equipment.
• Collaborate effectively with supervisors, fabricators, fitters, and other team members to complete projects on schedule.
• Follow work instructions and report any issues or delays to the supervisor promptly.

3. Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

• SPM / SPMV or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of professional welding experience in a manufacturing, construction, or related environment.
• Proficiency in at least two (2) common welding processes (e.g., SMAW and GMAW).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of welding safety practices.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg), work at heights, and in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 1-3 in Welding Technology or a related field.
• Welding certification from a recognized institute (e.g., IIUM-JPKK, ADTEC, CIDB, or American Welding Society - AWS).
• Experience in specific industries such as Oil & Gas, Marine, or Structural Steel Fabrication.
• Knowledge of welding procedures (WPS) and the ability to weld according to qualified procedures.
• Experience with welding stainless steel and aluminium.

4. Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a workshop/fabrication yard or on-site.
• Exposure to typical workshop hazards: noise, heat, fumes, and bright arc light.
• Required to work overtime, on weekends, or on shift rotation when necessary to meet project deadlines.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols is mandatory at all times.

Pay: RM1, RM6,515.07 per month
