Job Summary

As a Development Lead (Commercial), you will play a key role in architecting and delivering impactful business solutions using modern technologies. You will lead prototyping, development, testing, and deployment of reusable components that address real business needs. This role sits at the forefront of our journey to build a modern data stack and advanced analytics capabilities—leveraging our extensive data to elevate industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and empower a high-performing software engineering team using a product-centric approach.
  • Partner with product managers and designers to translate business needs into technical roadmaps and actionable engineering initiatives.
  • Architect and design reliable, cloud-native solutions using modern microservices and serverless frameworks.
  • Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions, balancing technical debt, product velocity, and operational reliability.
  • Strengthen engineering practices, including automated testing, code reviews, pair programming, secure coding, branching strategies, and observability.
  • Maintain high build quality to ensure operational resilience and define metrics that connect technical performance with business outcomes.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, continuously improving development standards and the tech stack.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, concise documentation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across teams.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • Strong coding experience in ), GraphQL, PHP, Svelte, Angular, and both SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Hands-on expertise with Azure and DigitalOcean, including Docker, Kubernetes, serverless functions, and event-driven architectures (Kafka/message queues).
  • Proficient in CI/CD using GitLab, with solid understanding of secure development, SonarQube, and OWASP concepts.
  • Skilled in observability tools such as Prometheus for monitoring, metrics, and performance management.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience in cloud-native and product-driven environments.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to align technical strategy with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experienced in Agile/Scrum delivery, digital transformation, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Proven ability to mentor teams, drive engineering excellence, and foster inclusive, high-performance cultures.
