About the role

As a Shift Technician at Hong Poh Engineering Construction Sdn Bhd, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing the critical equipment and machinery that powers our engineering and construction operations in Penang. In this fulltime position, you will work as part of a skilled team to ensure our facilities and assets remain in optimal condition, supporting the wider objectives of the business.

What you'll be doing

Shift Technician – Job Responsibilities

Scheduled Inspections & Maintenance
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment, including Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) systems, in accordance with the established work schedule and Supervisor/Engineer instructions.

Troubleshooting & Resolution
• Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions—including ACMV issues—efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
• Provide responsive support during urgent or emergency breakdowns, including early arrival when necessary.

Shift-Based Responsibilities
• Maintain punctuality and reliability across scheduled shifts.
• Participate in operational meetings to report updates from previous shifts and raise any service-related abnormalities.

Cleanroom Monitoring
• Monitor and accurately document cleanroom conditions, including temperature and relative humidity (RH) readings, to maintain compliance and quality standards.
• Ensure ACMV systems are operating within parameters to support cleanroom environmental control.

Scope of Work Compliance
• Execute servicing and maintenance tasks as detailed in the client's Scope of Work (SOW), including ACMV servicing, ensuring completeness and consistency with service expectations.

Team Collaboration & Process Improvement
• Cooperate with the broader engineering team to identify and contribute to process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.

Recordkeeping & Documentation
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all work performed, including materials used, system updates, and ACMV maintenance logs.

Safety & Compliance
• Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Demonstrate competency in handling electrical panels and ACMV systems.
• Apply proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure workplace safety during maintenance.

Shift Technician Requirements
  • Educational Background: Possess relevant technical qualifications in engineering, maintenance, or a related discipline. Recognized certifications such as SKM, PW1, PW2, A0, or A4 are highly preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Proven experience as a shift technician or in a similar maintenance role, ideally within engineering or construction environments.
  • Technical Competency: Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving, with the ability to apply creative thinking to resolve complex equipment issues effectively.
  • Quality & Precision: Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship, ensuring consistent delivery of reliable, top-quality results.
  • Team Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Shift Flexibility: Willingness and capability to work on a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, in support of 24/7 operational requirements.
