The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations at the hotel. This role ensures the smooth functioning of all systems, equipment and facilities, while driving operational efficiency, managing budgets, maintaining high guest satisfaction and ensuring environmental sustainability.
The Director leads the engineering team, managing preventive maintenance, repairs, special projects and collaborating with other departments to ensure the property's systems operate at peak performance. They are also responsible for controlling costs, maintaining compliance with safety and legal regulations and contributing to the hotel's overall performance.
Additionally, the role includes managing energy consumption and environmental programs, handling vendor relationships and ensuring that all engineering employees are trained, motivated and working to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all engineering operations, ensuring systems and equipment are running smoothly.
- Manage the engineering department's budget, controlling costs and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs and address repair needs proactively.
- Work closely with the hotel's Executive Committee and other departments to align engineering efforts with hotel goals.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant safety, fire, life-safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in all operations.
- Supervise and develop engineering staff, ensuring proper training, performance reviews and personal development.
- Address guest and internal customer service issues promptly, ensuring all issues are resolved satisfactorily.
- Manage inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary parts and materials.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, ensuring the engineering team works effectively with other hotel departments.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in engineering, ideally in the hospitality industry.
- Strong understanding of building systems, safety protocols and energy management.
- Experience in budget management, cost control and operational performance.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and team development skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM13, RM15,000.00 per month
