Job description:

The SAP Master Data Management (MDM/MDG) Consultant is responsible for designing, maintaining, and governing master data processes across SAP systems. This role ensures data accuracy, consistency, and compliance for key business domains such as Customer, Vendor, Material, Finance, and Product data. The consultant works closely with business users, IT teams, and project stakeholders to implement master data solutions and support ongoing data governance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Master Data Governance & Maintenance

  2. Manage and maintain master data objects (Customer, Vendor, Material, BP, Finance, etc.).

  3. Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and data quality standards across SAP systems.
  4. Define and enforce data governance policies, workflows, and approval processes.

  5. Monitor and resolve data quality issues, inconsistencies, and duplicates.

  6. SAP MDM/MGM Configuration

  7. Configure SAP MDG data models, UI modeling, workflows, BRF+ rules, and validations.

  8. Support MDG modules (MDG-MM, MDG-S, MDG-F, MDG-C, BP).

  9. Build and maintain data replication mechanisms (ALE/IDOC, RFC, SOA, DRF).

  10. Process Design & Optimization

·      Work with business stakeholders to understand data management requirements.

  • Develop end-to-end master data processes and best practices.

  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.

  • Data Migration & Integration

·      Lead master data migration activities for new rollouts or projects.

  • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation.
  • Work with ETL tools and SAP Data Services (BODS) when required.

  • Integrate SAP MDG with S/4HANA or ECC systems.

  • Support & Issue Resolution

  • Provide Level 2/3 support for master data issues.

  • Troubleshoot process errors, workflow issues, and data inconsistencies.

  • Work with technical teams (ABAP, BASIS, Integration) for complex fixes.

  • Documentation & Training

  • Prepare functional specifications, test scripts, and process documentation.

  • Provide training and support to business users and master data teams.
