About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on and results-driven Commodity Analyst to strengthen our BioFeed origination team, with a primary focus on Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). The immediate priority will be to build a strong understanding of the local POME market, identify sourcing and selling opportunities, and provide clear, data-backed recommendations on the market. This role requires someone who can get into the details — conducting ground work with mills, running risk and financial analyses, and presenting actionable insights to management for decision-making. Over time, the role will extend into the regional and international bio-feedstock market as our trading activities grow.
Key Responsibilities
1.
Market & Ground Work
• Map out the local POME supply landscape, focusing on mills and other key players.
• Track local market movements, supply-demand dynamics, and competitor activities.
• Conduct on-the-ground assessments and due diligence on suppliers and buyers.
2.Sourcing & Trading Support
• Recommend sourcing and selling opportunities with clear justifications.
• Analyse timing of buy/sell decisions to maximise value.
• Support contracting and negotiation processes with market intelligence.
3.Risk & Financial Analysis
• Assess risks including price volatility, supply reliability, and funding exposure.
• Estimate capital requirements for sourcing and trading strategies.
• Build models and scenarios to guide decision-making.
4.Decision Support
• Prepare concise reports and presentations for management review.
• Deliver clear, actionable recommendations supported by data and ground insights.
• Collaborate with trading, finance, logistics, and sustainability teams for execution.
5.Future Expansion
• Begin monitoring regional and international POME and bio-feedstock markets.
• Support the development of trading strategies beyond local markets
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Agriculture, or related field.
• 3–5 years' experience in commodity analysis, trading, or supply chain within biofuels, feedstocks, or agriculture.
• Strong financial modelling, risk assessment, and market research skills.
• Practical understanding of commodity sourcing and trading dynamics.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for management-level reporting.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable with field work and fast execution.
• Willingness to travel locally (mills, suppliers) and regionally as markets expand.
