As Head of Research, you will lead and build our research capabilities, shaping the direction of our equity research and market insight function. You'll work closely with senior management, the sales & institutional dealing teams, and analysts to ensure our research product is timely, insightful and adds clear value to our clients and stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of research analysts covering equities / sectors, driving high-quality output and professional growth.
  • Define the research strategy and roadmap: define coverage universe, sector focus, methodology, and go-to-market timing.
  • Analyse macro-economic, industry and company-specific developments to provide actionable insights for clients, the dealing desk and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure strong communication of research via reports, presentations, client briefings and internal sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with institutional sales, capital markets and corporate finance to align research insight with broader business strategy.
  • Oversee quality control, compliance and regulatory requirements for research output (in line with local capital markets / licensing rules).
  • Develop and enhance research tools and platforms: modelling, valuation frameworks, research dissemination, data analytics.
  • Represent the company externally (industry forums, conferences, roadshows) as the key research leader.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or related field. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or equivalent is a plus.
  • 8-10 years experience in research / equity analysis
    in the financial services industry, with at least some years in a supervisory / leadership capacity.
  • Licensed under the Securities Commission Malaysia – Modules 12 & 19A (Investment Advice License).
  • Demonstrable track record in equity research: tracking sectors, producing investment-grade reports, advising institutional clients.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills, with ability to synthesise data, interpret financial statements, build valuations and frame investment theses.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills: ability to influence internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Deep understanding of the Malaysian capital markets ecosystem, regulation, licensing (e.g., CMSRL), and global markets context.
  • Strategic mindset with business acumen: you can see how research links to revenue, client service and competitive positioning.
  • Leadership and team-building skills: you'll be shaping culture, developing talent and managing performance across the research function.
  • Self-motivated, resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced capital-markets environment.
