Summary

The Debug/FA Manager is a senior technical leader responsible for managing a team of 30+ debug professionals specializing in Storage, Server, and Switch products. This role drives operational efficiency (WIP reduction), ensures technical excellence in PCBA and system-level Failure Analysis (FA), and collaborates cross-functionally to eliminate defects and report findings directly to the customer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership & Core Analysis

  • Deep-Dive Analysis: Lead and perform in-depth Failure Analysis (FA) for both PCBA and system-level defects, focusing on complex fault isolation for Storage, Server, and Switch products.
  • Methodology: Develop, optimize, and enforce FA methodologies and processes to improve analysis accuracy and efficiency across the team.

  • Diagnostic Expertise: Develop and execute technical training programs to elevate the team's diagnostic and fault isolation skills, leveraging advanced technical knowledge.

  • Quality Management & Reporting

  • RMA & FA Ownership: Own the entire RMA return process. Apply structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, RCCA) to determine the true root cause of product defects.

  • Customer Communication: Prepare and formally deliver comprehensive FA Reports directly to the customer, clearly detailing the failure mode, root cause, and corrective action.

  • Quality Improvement: Analyze debug data to identify systemic issues, drive continuous quality improvements in manufacturing, and provide technical guidance to production lines for preventing failure recurrence.

  • Operational Efficiency & Team Development

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 30+ professionals, including 5+ Debug Engineers and technical specialists.

  • WIP Reduction: Implement strategies to achieve aggressive FA WIP reduction targets and effectively manage aging inventory.
  • Test Optimization: Collaborate with Test Engineering to improve test coverage and drastically reduce NDF (Non-Defect Found) rates.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison with cross-functional teams (Design, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.) to investigate and resolve critical failure issues.
  • Skill Development: Conduct training and guidance sessions for FA technicians to continuously improve their diagnostic and analysis skills.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of direct experience in Failure Analysis within a manufacturing environment.
  • Education: College degree or above (Technical discipline preferred).
  • Product Expertise: Knowledge or extensive experience with Server, Storage, or Switch products is highly advantageous.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and lead a large technical team (30+ members).
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective internal collaboration and formal customer reporting.
