About Our Client

Our client is a leading regional Financial Institution with a strong presence across Southeast Asia and a growing technology footprint in Malaysia. The organization is investing heavily in digital banking, cloud transformation, cyber resilience, and regulatory compliance, and is known for its strong risk culture and governance standards. The successful hire will join a high-visibility function within Group Technology, partnering closely with Technology Risk, IT, Audit, and senior stakeholders to strengthen the organization's technology control environment and regulatory readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the
    technology assurance program
    , including planning, walkthroughs, control testing, and reporting, to assess the design and operating effectiveness of IT controls across
    infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and operations
    .
  • Review and challenge technology risk areas (e.g.
    access management, change management, resilience, data protection, cloud, third-party risk
    ) and provide actionable recommendations to control owners and senior management.
  • Evaluate compliance against internal policies, regulatory guidelines (including local technology risk regulations such as
    RMiT
    ), and industry frameworks such as
    ITIL, and ISO27001
    .
  • Coordinate
    regulatory reporting
    and ensure the accuracy and completeness of technology risk and control-related submissions to regulators and internal governance committees.
  • Prepare the organization's technology domains for internal and external
    audit readiness
    , ensuring timely responses, adequate evidence, and remediation of findings.
  • Build and embed a strong first-line control culture by coaching stakeholders on good practices in IT risk management, control design, and operational discipline.

What We're Looking For (Requirements)

  • Minimum
    8 years of relevant experience
    in Technology Risk, IT Audit, IT Controls Assurance, or Technology Governance within the Banking / Financial Services industry. Exposure to 1st or 2nd line of defence in a bank is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in IT audit and control assessment, including the ability to assess design and operating effectiveness of technology controls, document gaps, and influence remediation owners. Familiar with frameworks such as
    COBIT, ITIL, NIST, ISO27001
    , and ITGC principles.
  • Solid understanding of
    Malaysian regulatory expectations
    around technology and cyber risk (e.g.
    RMiT / technology risk management guidelines
    ), with the ability to interpret requirements and translate them into practical controls and evidence.
  • Proven experience engaging senior stakeholders (CIO, IT Ops, Cybersecurity, Risk, Audit) and presenting clear, risk-based views, including when challenging control weaknesses or timelines.
  • Professional certifications such as
    CISA, CRISC, or CIA
    are an advantage; strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder management skills are essential.
