Lead the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of data-center networks across on-prem or eventually cloud. Write design documents, review existing designs, propose enhancements. Manage routing, security, performance, and reliability end-to-end. Act as the escalation point for complex incidents, mentor engineers, and drive automation and standardization to keep the network fast, safe, and boring (in the best way).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Architecture & Design: Develop scalable L2/L3, DC, WAN, SD-WAN, and Wi-Fi architectures with HA, segmentation, and zero-trust principles.
  • Implementation & Operations: Deploy and maintain switches/routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, NAC/802.1X, DNS/DHCP/IPAM.
  • Security & Compliance: Engineer network security (NGFW, IDS/IPS, SASE/ZTNA, micro-segmentation), manage certificates/VPNs, and enforce standards.
  • Automation & Observability: Implement NMS systems, configure SNMP, setup proper escalation flows.
  • Performance & Troubleshooting: Perform troubleshooting of network issues.
  • Documentation & Governance: Maintain respective documentation, diagrams, and change records.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Coach mid/junior engineers, lead vendor evaluations/PoCs, and collaborate with app, security, and infra teams.
  • Lifecycle & Vendor Management: Plan refreshes, manage licenses/support, and optimize costs and contracts.
  • Technical Writing: preparation of design documents, IP distributions, VLAN segmentation, network architecture drawings.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Networking Knowledge: BGP, OSPF, route-maps/policy, multicast basics, QoS, EVPN/VXLAN, HSRP/VRRP/MC-LAG, spine-leaf.
  • Security Conscious: Hands-on with NGFWs (Palo Alto/Fortinet/Check Point), IPsec/SSL VPN, IDS/IPS, ACLs, NAT, .
  • DC & WAN: SD-WAN Experience (Cisco/Viptela, Fortinet, Prisma, etc.), MPLS, DIA/hybrid WAN, load balancing (F5/HAProxy/Nginx).
  • Wireless: Enterprise Wi-Fi design (RF planning, roaming, WPA2-E/3-E, RADIUS), controllers, site surveys.
  • Observability: Skilled with monitoring and log stacks (SolarWinds/PRTG, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK), packet tools (tcpdump/Wireshark), and SLO/SLA reporting.
  • Process: Strong change/problem management, risk assessments, and security best practices.
  • Soft Skills: Clear communicator, crisp documentation, stakeholder management, and mentoring mindset.

QUALIFICATION LEVEL:

  • Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications (preferred): CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, PCNSE/NSE4+, AWS/Azure networking specialties, F5 CA, CWNP.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL:

  • Experience: 7–10+ years in enterprise/network engineering with 3+ years in lead/escalation roles; demonstrable ownership of large, highly available networks.
