About the Role:

Kinsajasa Sdn Bhd, a leading engineering firm in Miri, Sarawak, is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic team in Miri/Bintulu. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient performance of rotating machinery such as pumps, compressors, turbines, engines, and gearboxes. The successful candidate will be involved in planning, executing, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring across multiple client projects.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Perform precise alignment and installation of rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors) using tools like laser aligners and dial indicators, following technical drawings and API standards.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and perform repairs using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
  • Carry out in-situ balancing of rotating components to reduce vibration and improve long-term reliability.
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks safely, adhering to OSH procedures.
  • Identify and report OSH hazards related to machinery and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure machinery is safe to operate after maintenance or repair.

About You:

  • Minimum SPM, with minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance works in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry OR Diploma/Technical Certificate with minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance works in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry
  • Must be able to converse and write in basic English
  • Must have basic Math skills.
  • Read drawings and identifying parts.
  • Proficiency in basic hand tools, grinders, drills etc.
  • Proficiency in precision measurement tools.
  • Basic Pipe Fitting / Blinding practices.
  • General understanding of gasket materials and the use of sealants.
  • Understand the machinery Repair Standards and documentation requirements.
  • Lubrication methods – oil rings, flingers, forced feed lubrication and oil cup setting.
  • Alignment techniques – both dial gauge and laser.
  • Handling power screws and hydraulic jacks.
  • Handling pneumatic tools and torque wrenches.
  • Oxy- fuel heating and cutting.
  • Fastener selection and torque requirements.
  • Must be capable of preparing tubing using tube benders and accessories.
  • For working on compressor applications, must be capable of identifying and handling special tools.
